  Practice Information

I am a family therapist who practices and counsels from the systems perspective.  This means that I recognize that people are part of a larger system which includes family, community, work, culture and belief systems.  I believe that all interventions and/or solutions I create must consider the presence of those systems as an integral part of people’s lives.  I use an active manner in which I address the family organization and style by identifying with the children and parents, affirming the family strengths, monitoring interpersonal distance, and reframing reality.  I work hard to respect hierarchies of authority and values, supporting subsystems, and “speak” the language of the family.

This is an all-inclusive approach that focuses on the family system in its entirety and not just the distressed member.  My techniques have been synthesized from a variety of schools of thought, including client-centered therapy, behaviorism, collaborative therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy/mindfulness and many other innovative approaches.

I hold two licenses from the State of Texas.

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
    License Number 201405
  • Licensed Professional Counselor
    License Number 64899
  • Member, American Psychological Association
  • Member, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Member, Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Member, Houston Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
I am also a family mediator, and Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, and ADHD Professional. My practice is incorporated in Texas as Elizabeth Tramonte, P.C.
